Actually, there are two advantages to the solid case back...
1/ A see through case back would have added a good half a millimeter to the height of he case.
2/ The Cal 849 is already lost in a 34 mm case, so you can imagine how it looks in a 39 mm case.
I would add a third reason: I always preferred erotism to pornography, hiding it rather than fully revealing it.

With that kind of case, rose gold works very well, too, but if I had the choice, I would go for the platinum.

Totally the ultimate dress watch. Was an instant need when I saw it in the metal. No ability to withstand it's charm.

I tend to more substantive watches. I have tried on a number of ultra thin watches from other brands and never felt that they felt right. But the MUT is just right. Good to be eclectic.
I think JLC boutiques may have run out of stock.
Yet there could be one or two sitting in the cabinets of authorized dealers somewhere in this world. Let me try hunting it down.
