Hello everyone, I am interested in this watch but lack the knowledge to tell if the dial has been redone and was hoping some experts from the forum could help me out. Here are a couple photos... Does the text seem correct for an original dial? How about t...

about the back case.... the word "metal" ??? plus the crown is too exposed..... cheers

Having a base-metal spacer ring that was marked 'metal'. In the days before display backs, nobody but the watchmaker saw it anyway a

but the arrangement of the crown on a long-looking stem looks kosher to me. On highly-tapered cases, there is frequently a largish cutout for the stem in the spacer, to give a but of "slop" in getting it all together. Sounds ugly, but i've seen it before ... 

Not a JLC, sadly, but a contemporary watch of almost the same quality A...  

should it be a chinese mechanical replica? poor reproduction of the JLC logotype on the dial, poor hands, and... too shiny mecanism! take care... best. O

I've never seen a fake with a movement that correct. Not seeing the entirety of the dial or the case back I wouldn't say it real, but we have no evidence yet that it is fake. A flash on a small camera can make a movement much brighter than one is used to ... 

This watch is the ref 2291, and from what I can see in those pictures, it is 100% correct. In addition, this type of dial, with both positive (applied) and negative (groove) index are very difficult to re-do properly, and this would be noticeable if this ... 

You knew the reference number just by those photos, very impressive. What do you think now that I have uploaded a few more photos? Best

... is that the dial has been repainted, the crown may or may not be original (could be a factory JLC replacement), and the movement is 100% correct for the watch. The printing on the logo seems a bit uneven, which would be quite unlike normal JLC quality...
