Hmmm ... I certainly know that when richemont releases "online only" editions they always "sell out" within days.
But then reappear at dealers months later. The latest release attempted to elevate and draw attention to the vintage market, it was not about making money from just a few pieces. They had to pretend that there was demand at the highly elevated prices. There is some chance that they did sell - look at auction world where people often overpay for easy to find pieces because there is an auction house name attached to them. But otherwise I do think that Richemont probably just put away the unsold pieces ...

Yes the prices were a bit ambitious in some cases, but they have impeachable provenance - as they were bought directly from JLC. I'm also guessing that there'll be a guarantee & also suspect the prospect of no nasty surprises also appealled. I'm with you ...

Cant say I dont like the watches in this collectibles collection, but... Where are the new ideas and pieces ?! We all know the history and we enjoy it already. We demand new stuff !
indeed, as well as driving traffic towards the boutiques.
For all the occasional customers (like me), its always a good excuse to make us come to the boutique. Hell why not organize a "vintage" party at their boutique, where ppl come with their vintage pieces.
