My history is pretty simple as it is only 6 months old.
About 6 months ago I bought my dad a vintage JLC. In that process I realized I like the modern JLC a lot more. So I went to my local AD. The first watch I tried on was a Master Ultra Thin. I liked it a lot, but deemed I will hardly use a dress watch. While in the store he had a pre-owned RDM with solid back. I tried that on and immediately fell in love. Both the MUT and the RDM spoke to me on the spot. I turned both down because it was too early in the game and I didn't want to rush into a wrong decision. I had also tried some newer Master Series (too thick, too big) and some reverso. I had also tried some other brands too. Only the MUT and RDM spoke to me. But I can't really believe love at first sight, can I?
After all, there are so many different models I haven't seen or tried yet.
Few weeks later, an opportunity came up and I bought a Master Moon from another local dealer. But when I got home, although it was s a nice watch, I thought about the MUT and RDM. Nevertheless this Master Moon was purchased as an additional gift to my father.
Then a few more weeks past and I bought a Master Reveil. Again, although the watch was very nice, I thought about the MUT and RDM.
Then two weeks before Christmas, through the sales corner of another website, I bought a 2005 RDM. Although this watch was not as expensive as the Master Moon or the Master Reveil, but to me, it's simply stunning on my wrist. This is mine to keep.
Then in mid-January, I bought a Reverso Duo. It's nice and everything, but I can't shake the MUT off my mind. And just for the record, this Reverso is another gift for my dad.
Finally, last week while in the UK, I bought a 2006 MUT from a local AD. It's a stunning watch just like the RDM. It took me a long time in the shop to decide to take it. Part of me said I will hardly need a dress watch, but the other half said this will be great watch for my dad.
So after quite a few watches I ended up with the first and the only two JLC that speaks to me. I will keep the RDM and my dad will have the MUT next time when I see him.
