Not so sure about the "grande Taille" thing
To me, the 861 'GT' was clearly marketed with the GT 'Grand Tourism' meaning that was fashionable back in the early 1970's
The add clearly suggests this (although the official meaning of the accronym could have been different. But that is not what buyers back then would have understood by seeing this add)

Hi Stefan, Thanks for the kind words! I love these designs - your watch is pretty cool, too. The dial is some sort of brown - I think....Unfortunately, I'm somewhat color blind. But it goes very well with the gold case. Best, Claus
