Polaris FS on the bay

 

Here is a Polaris for sale on the large auction site
If it's real, I'm interested
in the watch because I have been looking to purchase one. But from
the research I have done I have my doubts about this one. So I thought
it would make for an interesting discussion. Alarm chapter ring doesn't close at the date window.
The "c" in Automatic doesn't dive below font level.
The "automatic" font looks different.
The "6" and "9" enclosed circles look to big.(more like the Tribute models)
There is a discussion of a "Jaeger LeCoultre" dial with similar
dissimilarities to other Polaris'.  The gentleman claimed it was a
"Calypso" dial meant for a limited edition Polaris with
the special hands that no one has ever seen. 
But this is a "LeCoultre" american version.
If anyone can shed any light on these differences, please do so.
Other than what I point out, the watch looks pretty real.
I am no expert, but I have studied the watches, so I'm
looking for opinions on this watch.

As a start, I would suggest that you do a Forum Search ...

on the Polaris. You will find tons of pictures of Nicolas timepieces. The Polaris is one of his favourite... Then, compare the pictures with yours. Eventually, I am pretty sure that Nicolas will come an ask you several key questions. Good luck. Yves

Mstanga or anyone else. Please show me a picture of a watch with the EXACT same dial. "LeCoultre" with script "Automatic" with "c" that doesn't go below font line, and uncompleted alarm chapter circle at date. regards pitpro

Pitpro, In my database (and it's not a little database) I haven't such a kind of dial. You're right, but no one knows what JLC or LC could have done in those years, anyway with these doubts you had better not to consider this Polaris on eBay Have a nice d...
