Yes, what I have dubbed the "Amanico Solution" is to get both: His final answer for almost all difficult horological choices. He has no regard for our bank accounts. LOL!
But Nicolas is right, as usual, I am sure there is not much to be done because JLC won't customize the Black version. What they have done is offer the AMVOX 2 in about 8 different versions (but only one in Black), so hopefully one edition will fully appeal to you. The Black version preceded the DBS editions, by the way. so it is the older brother in this case. I have never warmed up to the Black version, also largely due to the dial, as is the case for you. But PVD cases really don't do it for me in general. I remain very much behind the times. It is funny, people seem to have very distinct opinions about the DBS and "regular" versions of the A2. For me, the open-work dial of the DBS is essential in this watch.
Have you checked out the photos of the 2 new DBS versions announced in January? Nicolas provided some great photos and some information on these new pieces if you do a search on the forum. Neither is Blackened, but they might appeal to you in any case. My suggestion is to try on both the DBS and the "regular" versions at least a few times because your preference may evolve. I tried on at least 4 versions before committig.
I can think of no better JLC to sweep you off your feet than the AMVOX2, although I can think of a fair number of additional JLC pieces that have swept me.
Thanks for your kind words, and here's hoping you get one of these soon.
