SIHH 2013: Montblanc Star Quantième Complet

I really like the way Alexander Schmiedt is refocusing the Montblanc Star collection.

For too long this collection has suffered from an identity crisis; clumsily putting various design elements together hoping that somehow they would resonate with watch collectors.  WRONG, instead this strategy had the opposite effect and sadly Montblanc watches were ignored by enthusiasts.

Now we see, perhaps, a glimpse that the Star collection will focus on preserving classical aesthetics and functions.

Last year was the release of the Star Classique Ultrathin.

Now at SIHH 2013 we see the Star Quantieme Complet

Seriously, watches can't get any more beautiful than this.  I don't think I need to waste any words to convince you all that this classic design is timeless.

Take a quick look at the details.  I know some PuristS will dislike the mix of Roman and Arabic numerals but the difference in type size minimizes the clashing style.  The blued leaf hands that are of proper length where the seconds hand is slightly longer than the minutes and lines up perfectly with the indicies printed on the dial. No numbers "eaten" out by the various displays/indicators.  The barley corn guilloche and other framing elements that give the dial three dimensions. The properly sized onion crown and stepped lug.

Perfect!

Enjoy, Mike
