Montblanc

The new titanium Timewalker ChronoVoyager UTC

Montblanc has an incredible ability to adjust its watches to fit current trends in design.

For example, some people complained about how difficult it was to read the chronograph subdials on the original Timewalker chronograph so the designers flipped them around and enlarged the size so they could be read more easily.  This was seen in the SIHH 2011 release of the Club Brown.

This year, they added a GMT function since most of MB's customers are constantly travelling for business.

There were three examples shown.  Of course the most interesting one for me was the Titanium version with the sand blasted bezel and chronograph pushers.  The monochromatic grey throughout the watch with the occassional blue highlight instanteously reminded me of my military service in Japan.

More specifically the USS Blue Ridge, the command ship of the US Navy 7th fleet.

 See the similar color scheme?

The angular shape of the ship's hull is like the timewalker case while the domed radar/communications antennae are like the chrono actuators.  The small seconds disk with the triangular tipped pointer is the equivalent of the MK 15 Phalanx Gatling gun located at the bow.  (I must be drinking the same koolaid as Bernard Cheong smile  )

This model is definately different from its two siblings which were also released this year.  Both of these are attractive in their own right but more conservative in design.

Best, Mike
