662 is no vintage watch that’s true. But the closest homage you will get.
If you love vintage , then I would really just get a vintage one or nothing. If not go for the 662. it has a similar look but in a modern way. I like that. It’s probably similar case if you need to decide in between the original 300sl or the new SLS . Huge prize difference , huge technical difference both with an amazing look and both with its uniqueness. I would be more then happy owning a SLS and not the 300SL

... you could find a 587 and leave it out in the sun for a while. Bleaching the dial is too risky ;-)
