Hi John..
I messaged our dear mod a few months about this historical aspect of this piece.
In an nutshell, he said as I understood our “conversation” at that time, that while he may have his reasons for not liking it, it’s not something that he is about to impose on others.
This piece can be a very personal thing. Some may choose not to get it for what it may represent. Others may choose to get it for the opposite reason.. not because they laud it but that hopefully it serves as a reminder of what happened back then (for whatever that is worth). For most, it is simply just a beautiful watch!
