Officine Panerai

I own this reference, as well.

 

And I really like both the wearability of the piece and it’s presence. At one point, I owned a 392, which is also a 42mm, but it is in the Luminor 1950 lineup. While the 392 was much thicker, I actually felt it had less presence on my wrist because the dial was a bit smaller to accommodate the heftier bezel/case. This 728 actually looks bigger on my wrist than the 392 did (because of a larger dial coupled with smaller bezel and thinner case) yet I find it much more comfortable to wear thanks to the overall weight/thickness combination. I understand the loyalty to the traditional Panerai styles/uses, but I think some people are missing out on an opportunity to have a great piece that fills a different purpose in a collection. There’s room in my heart for both 😁!

This is a watch I like far more even than I thought I would. I know the Due range is getting a lot of flak from the Panerai hardcore, but I think that's really a shame. It brings something new (smaller, thinner, dressier) to Panerai in my opinion, without...

This is not where Panerai stands for. But for Panerai it is impossible to make the same models year in year out and what they have created now, is a stunnig and wearable watch, that will find another adience. I love it and would swob it for my Marina Mili... 

Great pics ! I love the close up of the limited number, the drilled out bottom looks almost like fur !

I tried the 42mm model and it is totally different watch from any 44/47mm . I am sure it will atract a new market. And although 47mm wears to big for me, i felt the 42mm missed some presence for me. But is sure is a beautiful watch so congrats !

and I'm very happy that you like it. It's a bit strange to read that a 42mm Panerai is on the "large size", but hey old as I am, I don't shock that easily anymore...LOL The most important thing is that YOU like your new acquisition and enjoy the heck out ...

I agree that this Luminor Due is a class of its own. Thin case, blue dial, sandwich marker, gold hands, small seconds at 9 and at 42mm. Panerai hit a home run and will definitely attract new market segment.
