Initial reaction was Wow! However, on reflection....
It is a watch you dream about; an almost exact copy of a vinatage Panerai[s] at a fraction of the cost. However, as weird as it is to say it, I think Panerai did too good a job of creating a faithful reproduction. After the initial thoughts of how great this watch looks, my second thought was that this is just a copy of a great watch, a faux vintage watch. There should have been some greater appreciable difference (other than the hands) from the original (like the 232) to give it the modern Paneria stamp.
I do think it is fantastic that they did it and made it a regular production piece and it looks lovely, I just wish they had given it more of a modern twist to make something other than a faux vintage Panerai. I accept that this is perhaps being over critical and one should be happy when dreams come true. However, may be sometimes dreams should remain just that.
So now that the PAM372 47mm Luminor Base is out - what are your thoughts on this piece?
a) The first thing you will notice is the different shaped hands than the usual Luminor hands. These hands are the same shape as the PAM249 hands. I personally prefer the normal Luminor hands but these hands don't change my positive opinion of this piece....
My understanding
is that they are only making 3,000 of these watches, which is a lot but at the same time does not make it a regular production watch. Maybe I didn't read Kong's post on this watch correctly? I do like the waych though, a great base Luminor. Best regards, ...
The press release says 3000 watches. I'll see if that means 3000 for the year
or 3000 total overall for all years. No where in the press release does it say limited edition or special edition, so that is why I'm assuming it's a regular production piece. I'll ask Panerai to get the firm answer. Either way, now that the 1st 47mm base...
Anthony, I love the hands and etched dial.
Not so sure about the plexiglass though. As far as the LE/non-LE, I like the decision. I believe this model will have an enormous following, and I rather see everyone satisfied than thousands disappointed.

I think this still may end up as an SE for a couple of reasons: 1) Plexi IMO is not for mass consumption, average consumer may be disappointed with the fact that plexi can be scratches/scuffed far easier than sapphire. However the SE collectors will appre...
Don't buy it because it's soley a SE IMO, that's if it even is a SE

Today has been a day you cant forget in a hurry.... where to begin... well, lets start with this one... its perfect. I want it. Im soooooooooooooo happy 3000 pcs..... this way EVERY panerai addict can have a chance...to enjoy what i believe is a born icon...

The engraved dial is really a nice touch. Love the evolved case shape. 10K seems a little on the high side. There are a bunch of in house powered models that are less. I still think this is going to be a sold out affair for a while.

Looks great, but it'd be ridiculous to deny those who want to purchase the 372.

well firstly, i'm Happy that IT IS A Regular Production. why? cause Everyone who wants One will have the Chance to have it without Singling out the Majority. cause we've seen it happened with L.E Pieces that resulted in some very UN-HAPPY People. anyways....

it is known that Plexy Scratches much easier than Crystal. but also Simple to remove. and any person could Fix it by using some PolyWatch.
