For those who own the Panerai PAM26, PAM28, and PAM332 - the 3 current Panerai's w/ the new DLC coating - have any of you scratched the DLC coating? Many have said the past PVD coating used wasn't that tough. What are your experiences with this DLC coatin...  

My experience is limited to the 26k, regarding the case, it presents a very nice consistently 'flat' surface. But for toughness, I had the inevitable problems with changing straps - on my very first effort, 25% of the screw-head literally chipped off, upo... 

Too many companies offer DLC/PVD services when their quality still is very poor.Lets not forget this is a delicate process but money makes companies offer the service when clearly..they shouldn't...Everybody seems to believe DLC/PVD coating is fragile....... 

Could you share more on the second series PreV PVD and the PreA OP6500 as to why they are not as fragile as what seems to be the case with the 26 ? Hope all is well with you amigo

I think the issue is that the coating doesn't take too well to a sharp object like a screwdriver, anything that can cause a chip. I actually had the face of the watch rub across a couple of different hard surfaces with no damage. BTW, I did contact OP to ...

I got both 26K and 28L, so far no scratch for the case except the screw and area near the screw ...... need very careful when change strap but stilled easy to have some scratch near the screw.....Anyway I stilled love them !!!

are not that strong to scratches. But then again this should be expected because you are rubbing a steel screwdriver against the coating. With my PAM195 PVD, the PVD coating on the screw and screw slots are coming off as a result from my strap changes as ... 

i got both 26K and 28L as well, seems to me that the 28L PVD coating is more shinny and better done on the 26K, but afterall, both 26K and 28L dont have any sign of wear after daily use (well.....i often wear them under the suit...so the watches shouldnt ... 

In comparison to the older PVD

Im wearing my 26K in normal rotation with my other watches. I have to admit I was a little afraid when I got it. I always was thinking I would scratch the watch and so on. Not at all. I see myself as a person who cares about his goods, but Im not crazy fo... 

But again, I dont consider myself as a crazy guy....but I try to take care of certain issues IN ADAVANCE...and as I do make strap changes quite often, I just take some easy action with avery single PAM I own. NO PROBLEM AT ALL with screws and lugs if you ...  

is that the coating is standing up well after over a year. I have one dent, which has gone through to the steel, and a few tiny marks on the bezel, but generally very resistant. I've worn it everyday, still love this watch! Anyone know if it's possible to... 

and that you need to buy an entire case. Re-DLC'ing will be very time comsuming because they need to take the DLC coating off all the way through to the steel, and then repolish out the dents in the case, and then re-DLC it. This entire process is a huge ... 

My 26 is in pristine conditions. I don't use it every day (to be sure) but often enough. I wonder how severe must a hit be in order to actually scratch the PVD.
