But actually even the L'Egiziano has quite a huge chunk of modern reinterpretation from Panerai too, the case which naturally occupies the largest portion of the watch is crafted out of titanium, a feat which would have been impossible back in 1956.
And the modern in-house movement that powers both pieces ( as opposed to the externally sourced Rolex and Angelus) also provides much better reliability and more importantly accuracy than in the past. My 339 which is still undergoing it's trial period and have not been wound in the past 10 days is still showing very promising results!
Thus both are equally new in their own rights.
