The PAM98 is a great PAM
Yes it is no longer in production, but it's not "rare" IMO.
It's held it's value as good as other Panerai's, so you shouldn't take a beating if you decide to resell in the future.

It depends on what you are looking for. It is not a Historic Pam, if that is your first choice. These are more contemporary Radiomir's and are a touch smaller at 42mm versus larger the size of the more traditional 44mm or 45mm PAM's. To me, I like these 4...

is not rare and the chance of appreciating in value, given the lack of historical significance, would not be high. But then again, how important is that to you? Do you like the watch itself? If so that's all that matters!
