"Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him...[Caesar was ambitious, and Brutus is an honorable man...]" Marc Anthony, Julius Caesar, Act 3 Scene 2. Wm Shakespeare
Here is the major issue:
Omega had their email address book of those who were waitlisted for SpeedyTuesday_v1, and sent out an email circa January 2018 to those on said waitlist which promised a priority opportunity to reserve/purchase SpeedyTuesday_v2. That email, "signed" by CEO Aeschlimann, seemed sincere and a reasonable response to those who could not purchase ST_v1. Six months later, for whatever reason, Omega abandoned that promise. Why? Incompetence, short memory, lack of respect for segment of their customer base, ignorance as to how to fulfill that promise?...
Although we shall never know why, the bottom line is that it is highly insulting that Omega, be it their executive team, marketing section, internet sales section, whomever, took it for granted that this select customer base would be so stupid that they would have forgotten that promise made by Omega only six months earlier.
It is my hope that someone from the Omega company reads this thread and cares enough to respond to me(us) with some explanation as to why Omega so easily dismisses us and disregards its own promises. Nicolas (Amanico) tells us that JLC reads all posts on this website regarding its brand. Does Omega do the same?
The rest, including timing of opening the process across the globe, problems had by those trying to confirm/complete reservations including getting bumped by the Omega servers, etc, are all secondary to this simple lack of courtesy. Of course, were there more than 2012 on the ST_v1 waitlist, (the total number of ST_v2 being offered), then this would have created a whole other set of issues with which Omega might have had to contend. We shall never know how many were on the ST_v1 waitlist like myself, Velociphile and Reintitan.
Regardless, it seems clear that Omega does not value any single customer in particular at this point in time. Only the nebulous unidentifiable crowd in total. Which, as I have said earlier, is very sad.
