A nice challege to members - cast your minds back to 1973 !
Hi Desmond,
thanks for all that additional information - it set me to thinking about relative values,as I guess that back in 1973, $1500 was a lot of money - can any of your members shed some additional light on relative values.What was the average weekly,or monthly wage in the US,or UK back in 1973 ? - so by the same logic,how many weeks wage would this have set the average worker back,in 1973 ?
Secondly,what would $1500 have brought you typically,say in watches,white goods,maybe a new motorbike etc,it would be interesting to hear your answers.
I believe the average wage in the UK in 1973 was around £41.52,therfore this watch would have cost around 14 weeks wages.
Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
