1969 Speedmaster being serviced requires new dial

I took my 1969 Speedmaster to Omega for servicing today and they told me that because the luminous (sic?) is falling off the hands and the dial, they would have to replace the dial or they would be unable to give me a 2 year service warranty.  They offered to return the original dial to me and said they would put the original dial back on the watch if I were to sell it and the buyer wanted the original dial on the watch.  Apparently, they are concerned the luminous will flake off and get into the movement.  I agreed with their recommendation.  They are replacing the hands and the crystal also.

Did I make the right decision or should I have kept the original dial and sacrificed the 2 year warranty?  Let me know what you would do, as a collector.  Thanks.
