1969 Speedmaster being serviced requires new dial
I took my 1969 Speedmaster to Omega for servicing today and they told me that because the luminous (sic?) is falling off the hands and the dial, they would have to replace the dial or they would be unable to give me a 2 year service warranty. They offered to return the original dial to me and said they would put the original dial back on the watch if I were to sell it and the buyer wanted the original dial on the watch. Apparently, they are concerned the luminous will flake off and get into the movement. I agreed with their recommendation. They are replacing the hands and the crystal also.
Did I make the right decision or should I have kept the original dial and sacrificed the 2 year warranty? Let me know what you would do, as a collector. Thanks.

...keep the dial (by the way, what did they do with the hands?), then I think you did the right thing. It makes the watch more functional (readable in the dark) while being easily returned to original. Nothing is lost. If it was just a matter of dead lume...

While I posted my watch as a "1969" Speedmaster, it is more likely to be a 1970 model that came out right after the Lunar landing. This was confirmed to me by the watchmaker at Omega when I brought the watch in for repair but he was unable to give me an e...
