We are just staying until Sunday. So we will not have the time for the Wadi trip but for sure we will visit old Mascut. As well as the Mutrah Souq, the Mohammed Al Ameen Mosque, the Al Mirani Fort etc.
Its really a special place.
A huge area where guests get completely lost. At times you have the feeling that you are completely alone here… ...

Enjoy Oman and the kind and peaceful Omani people. I just love this place (I stayed a dozen of times at the Al Bustan Palace, I don’t know if it still exists and if it is as reputed as it was at that time about 25-30 years ago).
Still exists.
The Al Bustan Palace is (now?) a Ritz Carlton hotel and still exists. This hotel was also on our shortlist. We then decided on the Chedi (but didn't know either hotel).

. . . to the bazaar in Manama to get fresh Gulf shrimp. The fish monger had hamour , a local fish similar to grouper. Dad, who spoke fluent Arabic, asked how fresh the hamour was. Without saying a word, the fish monger took a hammer and hit a hamour on it...
