Omega

It was great to see you all, KMII and Adam - not only the watches...

... but we start with them... in chronological order:

Oldest piece (I think) present was this 1959 'First in Space' model, brought along by a Viennese collector:

Star of the evening: an ultra-rare 1967 Speedmaster Ultraman - on the wrist of Petros Protopapas, Brand Heritage Manager at OMEGA Biel:

From 1969, a Speedmaster MK II... wonderfull!!!

The same collector who owns the 1959 model also had a pre-professional Gen. 3 Speedy (ca. 1970):

Very rare (and as KMII said, from the waist pocket of Mr Protopapas): a 1970 Alaska II (if I am not mistaken...);

OMEGA was asked ot reduce costs for this one, thus they replaced titanium with brushed steel. Brushing was essential to reduce reflections...

Note, and important detail: the OMEGA Speedmasters are flight-qualified, not certified...

Still 1970, but with fascinating moon-surface history: a 1970 Ge. 4 Professional, accompanied by a Hasselblad SCW camera that was returned from the moon - what a treat! Note the Speedy's bezel - it still 'lives' as Mr Mr Protopapas put it, i.e. the bezel is currently changing its colour. Blue is the state of the art right now, but this will change still...

One year older, from 1971, the Speedmaster MK III... what a beast!

Equally dominating, but two years younger: a 1973 Speedmaster 125 automatic, very rare!

A further two years, and we reached the year of the Lobster: the famous and also rare Speedmaster Speedsonic from 1975 with its tuning fork movement;

Several golden special versions were made to honour the astronauts.

Also American presidents were amongst the prospective awardees, but declined acceptance to preempt any allegations of bribery...

1975, the year of the groundbraking Apollo-Sojuz rendez-vous:

A superb prototype of the Speedmaster X-33 electronic watch (ca. early 1990s):

And finally the colourful Flightmaster from 1969:

But what would this all be without really puristic compangions?

(KMII, yours truly, my partner Isabelle and and OMEGA brand manager Austria, Maria Fojtl)

Soon we got into serious business...

(Purist Speedie74 (Adam) with his wife, to the left)

In all their preciousness!

But finally a group shot: Adam, yours truly, Isabelle, Petros Protopapas and KMII:

Thank you all for your camaraderie!

Best,
Magnus
