I am not even sure if a question was asked at all or if you were simply thinking aloud
Anyway, the response is, I am old-fashioned and I don't associate myself with things that are too ornamented to attract attention. The Speedmaster to me is a no-nonsense watch, very parred down and very resolute. People outside the watch circles wouldn't know its price and I like that fact very much.
I must admit though that part of the attraction came from the connection with the space programs. The ad campaign by Omega did fuel my interest in the Speedmaster initially. But the long time love for it comes only through its inherent qualities as stated above. I will still love and be proud of the Speedmaster all the same if some day, one way or another, the credibility of moon landings is questioned again. I love the watch for what it is. Now let's hope Omega won't introduce any radical change to it in the future. If the standard Moonwatch and the Speedmaster 9300 co-exist continuously, the collectors won't have to moan and newcomers to Omega will have the choices they need.
Oh ... you didn't ask about that so let me stop here. Have a nice weekend to you and everyone.
