. . . and the new edition . . .






. . . is that one's an homage and the other an interpretation.  My sense is that most of us in this community are more attuned to the allure of originality, so it's not surprising the 60th gets the nod here. 

I don't believe there's a significant technical/horological advantage to the latest iteration of SM300 over the 60th, so the decision comes down to aesthetic sensibilities.  Personally, the crown of the latest models is aesthetically problematic; the sunken dial is attractive, and the lollipop singular, but the crown is both entirely new and unprecedented.  I'm told there's a technical advantage to the inwardly tapered crown, but I tried working both side by side, and couldn't discern a significant difference.  Maybe with divers gloves on, but not with bare fingers.
