...could possible indicate that the movement may not be so pristine once someone delves into it. Classic moisture damage. That being said, keeping the dial original would be the best route. The movement can ben cleaned and serviced no problem.

. . . which is probably amenable by a diligent watchmaker. I wouldn't change anything external other than the crystal. Try to obtain an original Omega replacement; a generic item may fit, but you might find problems with clearance for the seconds hand.
