Patek Philippe

My favourite Patek dial has always been the three-colour breguet numerals Calatrava dial. I was under the impression they hadn't been made in ~60 years, but I have very little knowledge of Patek to know better. I saw one today as I was passing by a jewele...  

Yes, the 5196 P is a current production model.

You should observe better the dials of the watches to realise how different they are and how better made is that of the vintage model ref. 570 (look at the position of the sub seconds dial in relative to the border of the dial, for instance, which says a ... 

Hard to believe that the most prestigous watch maker in the world would re-develop such a spectacular dial and frame it in Platinum to cheat their distinguished buyers with a half-ass movement. The movement is that size to set the impecable sub-dial preci... 

The relatively larger sub-dial, as seen on the earlier version is more classic. But there is something appealing about the way the sub-dial on the modern version does not interfere with the numbers. Looks more discrete. fnk

because the PC215 is so small relative to the case. This is the reason this reference comes with a solid back. With the back off you really see that size does matter in this instance. A pitifully small movement for the case. There are so many watches out ...
