I did it myself - and I'm not terribly handy. Look at the back of the clasp and you will see a springbar sitting in the notch of the band. You can take a jeweler's screwdriver (I used my Xacto knife) and gently pull the tip of the spring bar down to remove it. Once the springbar is out just cut the strap and repeat the process to get the springbar back. The real trick is getting it just right - in length and getting the clasp centered.
