If you would read back a few messages to the above, I can tell you of some interesting developements in the history of my vintage watch. Having traced the movement as sold to " George R Dodson" in 1892, I wondered why it left the family. I now know that it was handed down to his son Mathew in 1934. After that- nothing. So I contacted the dealer ( Germany) I purchased it from. He said that he bought it from a deceased estate in Northern Germany in 2007. I have emailed the Dodsons again asking if any of their family served in the 2nd world war. I am awaiting a reply from the German owners survivng daughter. The plot thickens !!
