I tried very hard to see if my 5960P had the 3 stepped hand
but I couldn't actually see if it did. Anyway, I got mine in
December 2006 - long after the point about the 3 stepped hand was
discussed in this forum so I assumed that my 5960P had the re-designed
second hand.
