I go back and forth on this variant of the 3970. I generally like Arabic numerals so I'm repeatedly drawn to this style. But I also feel like the watch is trying to be something that its not. At first glance, it looks like a 5004, and can even appear to b...  

I would simply take two pictures - the standard 3970 and the one with Arabic numerals and have a look at those side-by-side several times a day. Then do that again next day and again a day after till I would know for sure. Deciding what you really like is...

I prefer the batons to the arabic numerals.

But to each his own. I love this dial and the watch overall aesthetics very appealing to me. As for valuation: I have only seen one sell that had the dial with paperwork from Patek showing changed dial and price was same as normal dial. Cheers, ...  

I have an easier time with smaller (3,5,7,9) or even missing (6) hour markers, than I have with missing numbers. Art isn't logical, but...

What were the special order dial variations on the 3970? Has anyone ever seen one with Breguet numbers? Salmon dial like the 5004? Thanks Roni

I liked it with the Arabic numbers, but then the more I scrolled back between the photo that Ken enclosed, the more I realised that I much preferred the baton dial. It appeared to me that the dial was top heavy, were the baton dial was more equally balanc...
