Possible solution...

Why does Patek not return old dials?
Hello everybody... ...In the event of Patek changing (not restoring) a damaged dial on a watch, the company will not return the old dial they remove to its owner, this even in the case you request for your dial. I can't think of any reason why this should...
It's a policy that many brands have
and it's to avoid that spare parts come to places like eBay. Be glad that Patek is willing to change your dial. GEO

I am glad that they will change the dial. But, that still doesn't change the fact that I am not at all glad at losing my original dial.
