Patek Philippe

When I first saw the Golden Ellipse I viewed it as an interesting curiosity. I mean, this was something that screamed 1970's and looked terribly out of date. Who would buy such a hideous and obviously dated model? And yet.....I keep finding myself drawn t... 

If you let aside the vintage Ellipses! When I was ready some two years ago to go for a PP the Ellipse hit me like a sledge hammer: thin, therefore sporty, elegant, bue radiant sunburst solid gold dial, yellow gold case, CALIBER 240, "affordable" ... what ...  

I love how light plays off it......

... one watch that I would love to own also! Also due to it's properties to play with light and shade. But as mentioned: the Ellipse offers a lot for "little" money in terms of other price tags that are attached to PP's lovely watches, for some reason. Re... 

I found the small winding stem very hard to wind, almost impossible.

It is a bit fiddly, yes but the caliber 240 allows you still to wind it with such a small lever!!! This shows the brilliance of Patek. And what a smooth sound it makes during manual winding! But I do not like to wind it manually as it leaves scratches, ve...

tell you of two other 70's watches that people consider really hot... Nautilus and Royal Oak.... So, if you like the ellipse, go for it... Cheers

Love the wrist shots. I had been considering the 1815 Moon Phase for my next watch but I think the Ellipse is probably the one to get. Thanks for the wrist shots.

..I wore mine at an evening with Patek Philippe at Newcastle through the local AD Berry's, I got chatting to David the managing director for Patek in the UK, I showed him my Ellipse and he was well impessed and said it was not a model he was familiar with... 

The movement number is mirror image-like! For instance: 1234 I 4321. The I=the mirror. And as the Ellipse is a mathematical watch (golden section), mine comes with a mathematical twist !!! I was really amused when I found out, I can tell you. It is a very... 

.....me a trip to the patek museum in march and I want to wear it then, we are staying at the president wilson hotel on the lake and then getting a boat ride to the museum, can't wait!

I wish the large size version would be available also in the other metals. I also like the Ellipse, it's an acquired taste!

It took me quite a whiel to accept and understand that there are also large wrist existing, but I still wonder if the watch world is also simply thinking that big is better, as it is more visible. Anyway, I would say that the 3738 at the current size is p...
