Like you I was not overly impressed when patek first announced the release the pilot at baselworld. That changed completely when I got chance to actually strap this beauty to my wrist at a patek event I was invited to. I know that it\'s not for everyone but I think that it is a great watch. Much better in person. I was not a fan until I saw it and tried it on and then immediately put an order in with my AD. I received mine a month ago and am very happy with it. Enjoy!
