I like your idea:
why discussion would or should change somebody's mind regarding a watch. At least I do not feel any reasons to turn anybody's head. We all should know what we like and subject to many things like financial realities, we can jump to those wonderful pieces of our admiration.
At least I do not acquire (at least anymore) any watches basis i.e. public admiration.
