I did almost the same thing. I put in a 1.5 link and then decided it was too tight. I went to the jeweler and he changed it right in front of me. He simply used a jeweler's screw driver. He did mention that tightening them was a bit tricky and I should check them from time to time to make sure they didn't come lose.
Resizing tool for 5711?
When I got my 5711 I had it resized twice - After the 3rd link was taken out it felt too small, so I decided to get a 1.5 link. It took a while before I got it, and I did not wear the watch until I did. Ironically the day I went to get the 1.5 link I wore...
I would not.....
recommend it..... The bracelet is quite unique, difficult to resize if you are not an expert and you could scratch it.... Cheers
