This classic must be the least talked about of all the Pateks. What is it about it that renders it so invisible to the watch aficionados? It has some outstanding credentials. Ultra thin, automatic movement, clean and elegant dial, "heavenly" proportions a...

But this is my personal taste... I prefer the timeless elegance of a Calatrava. This Ellipse is a bit too 70ies for me, with this weird shape. If I had to go on ( and I went on ..) a 70ies look, I'd rather consider an Aquanuat or a Nautilus, IMHO... But t... 

usual look of a classic watch with lugs. It does not have a round or a square or a rectangular dial, strictly speaking. It looks like a dress watch reduced to its most basic form. I love the Calatrave and feel that it is the finest example of a wrist watc... 

Will this appeal last? Of course, you argued very well about the Ellipse. But at the end, won't you be tired of this special old looking shape? Best, my friend. nicolas
