Patek Philippe

I've been able to hold the new Patek Philippe 2015 "blue dial" 6000G and thought I would share some of my first impressions. The previous versions of this reference weren't the model which attracted me most in Patek's collection. Well, let me say to begin...  

I have always liked the 6000 dial layout but this new color combination is superb. I really like the blue face on dark blue strap combination, it really makes the white numerals and hands pop. The previous model with the gray dial and brown strap was nice... 

...if you're looking for a "sportier" Calatrava. As you said, the "live" experience is worth trying and it should look a little bit darker than my first pictures. Bring back your opinion if you ever try one! Very appealing. Cheers, Mark

All previous white gold versions were nice, but not really "wow!". With the rose gold version Patek gave it a lot of the missing wow factor and created a very, very credible looking classic watch. With this blue dialled one they have created the perfect c...

Thanks Mark for the wonderful writeup and pictures. I am a big fan of the gray dialed 6000G and still think this is the best version. I have had the opportunity to handle the blue and while I think it is gorgeous, my go to watch for a blue dialed PP would...

I bought the 6000G in WG with dark gray dial because I thought it was interesting. I've kept it in my collection really though because I like the 240 movement...I haven't seen the blue yet, but I like white cases and blue dials so will certainly be lookin...  

...way back then, in my Rolex years, I thought them to be a bit old-manish, that was when you could pick up Plexi Subs for virtually nothing and 34mm Osterdates with blue dials were worn by serious business-man types. Today, with a distance, blue looks...... 

I like blue but only specific tones of blue. I guess it works differently for each of us (and for every colors). The contrast between the white figures and the blue dial is strong but I think that darker nurmerals would not have been as legible, and the w...

The Patek Philipe Calatrava 6000 has been in the collection for some time. If my memory is correct the first model was a white gold version. It has certainly stood apart from the rest of the Calatrava collection due in no small part to its energetic dial ... 

The rose gold one is quite very appealing too, still casual but in a less sporty way. They are the 2 references that seem to be the more popular in that reference from what I could read these last days. Thanks for sharing your opinion :) Cheers, Mark

I am not really a fan of brown - in particular when it comes to watch dials or straps. It would have been interesting to pair a RG case with a blue dial - maybe even a light blue? Or even a pistaccio light green dial??

As you do, I don't like brown straps that much, except if they are light brown. Concerning the blue dial with RG, yes it is a very nice combination, even if a brown dial in that case can look really warm (like the 5711 R unveiled this year).

What I believe what Patek is showing with the use od coloured sunburst dials is their expertise in dial making. As far as I know from jewellery making the colours blue, brown, grey and even green are shades that can be created from gold. Even purple can b... 

I don't have the info but thought their dials were usually galvanized. It could be nice if they play with gold characteristics to offer special colors. Cheers Moritz, Mark

For me, the date, hours and inner circle crowds the dial. The subdial is distracting. You cannot help looking at it when looking at the piece. It is fighting for attention against the beautiful blue dial. There is no denying that the blue dial is stunning... 

This is quite an "animated dial" with a strong contrast between white printings and the dark dial. I know such dials are not to everyone's taste :) Thanks for sharing Bob Cheers, Mark

medicore set of hands. PP needs to give this model hands worthy of a PP.

I find them quite well fitting the watch as they are at the size of the minute ring and quite modern. I don't think that leaf or dauphine hands would have been nice here for example. Cheers
