Patek Philippe

My watch review..the rare and forgotten Nautilus. The HODINKEE Patek.

Every one heard of the infamous PP 5711 but behind the 5711, 5712, 5980 from 2006 there is also a Patek 5800.
The 5800 was aim for gentlemen who prefer smaller wrist watch thus the diameter is only 38mm (compared to 43mm in 5711).
Eventually in 2008-09 the watch was discontinue and became the last authentic Patek Nautilus aim for men but worn by women. Patek quickly replace the 5800 and gave way to the 7008, 7010, 7118 which size the same as 5800. Is 5800 a women? By no mean. The watch wear even better than the 5711. It’s comfortable, it’s agile, it’s the traditional home made Gerald genta. The only complaint the 5800 has is that the watch isn’t screw down which mean the water resistance would be less than its brothers.
Other than that.. 5800 is an elegant watch with just enough presence that doesn’t make you feel unpleasant. All in all, the Rare and forgotten 5800 is a watch to look out for, even more than 3712 imo🙂
