Patek Philippe

park put it well..

..in relation to why Yellow Gold is where it is on the desirability scale. I was watching Miami Vice reruns the other night and couldn't help but notice that even in the worst most crime infested drug city in the 80's, everyone wore a Gold watch. I too think yellow gold bracelet watches are coming back - well to be fair Gold never goes out of fashion, but I see more people wearing YG than in previous years.

Given your choices of 5159, 5960 and 5980 I would choose that piece which is most accessible first. If you walk into an AD and see a 5159, consider it a gift from fate and try to work with the AD on a discount. All 3 of those watches are gems. The downside is that the 5960 is quite heavy. Nice to own as a complete collector but I don't find it as comfortable as the other two on your wishlist.

If all three require locating, then I'd definitely try to acquire the 5980 first. There are more of them out there at the moment so you can work for a better discount, it has that nautilus case (you already have two round cases). It has a metal bracelet so you can wear it wet (the croc-straps are not forgiving around H2O); and it has a chrono. You don't have a Patek chrono yet. Also, Patek has never made SS chronos for long, so you never know when they'll stop the 5980. Better to strike on that while the iron is hot.

Good luck with whatever piece you ultimately chose. I wear all three but the 5140G gets more use than all of them, so you picked the winner when you bought that one.
