I believe the Day-Date in YG and the Submariner in SS are probably the watch models that are most easily recognized by non-watchlovers.
Whereas our beloves Pateks...well, the World Timer range might be "recognizable", and the hobnail Calatrava.
But a 5196 or 5227, the latter with its almost generic design, they go unnoticed by the crowd and that is a good thing.
And we are not even talking vintage, with a 3119 already counting as "vintage" despite its relatively young age. 33mm, or 31 (as mine was), they slip under the shirt cuff and are the antithesis of Rolex's "Deep Sea" vulgarity.
