Service intervals and "NOS"

Hi

I after reading the discussion regarding service intervals on this forum I would be interested in your comments and advice.  I am considering purchase of a 3590 Calatrava which containes the 28-255 movement a JLC 920 derivative and a movement I have always been fascinated by.

The watch is in fantastic condition, it has either not been worn or worn infrequently, indeed it is advertised as in "NOS"  New Old Stock condition.  I assume this to mean that it is either unworn or has had very little wear.  Now I understand that lubricants do deteriorate over time but how much of an issue is this?

To put this into perspective, I have had a couple of nasty service experiences of late and I am loathed to send my new PP off to be serviced, be without it for months and it potentially come back in a wose condition if this not really neccessary. The flip side is that I would hate to think that by wearing and enjoying my "new" watch I am doing permenant damage to that incredible work of art that lies within in.

Assuming that it performs correctly when I take delivery what would you do?

Many thanks for your input.

Andrew
