I’ve come to realise that for me, if a watch isn’t versatile, I end up not wearing it and will eventually be sold.

Trust me....screw down crowns on a manual wind movement is kinda ridiculous
I think so yes. It is very practical
I find it cumbersome to have to unscrew crowns each day to wind. Besides being inconvenient, I'm sure that also impacts the lifespan of the thread of the crown tube.
