Yep, I believe the 5168G and 5968G blue are quite different, though I don't have a picture from the same day. The official description also gives the 5968G as a "midnight blue color," while the 5168G as "gradated from black to night blue" ;-) Cheers.

Glad you're already fully enjoying your new 5968G, and thanks for the interesting observations! It's indeed good many of these blue dials are different, as you mentioned, so as to further differentiate among sports references...
Here's actually this 5968G along with a couple of other blue dials for sports models that I had a chance to see at an event last month...interestingly, the 5968 blue does look quite similar (same?) to the iconic 5650G (a 2017 limited edition)! ;-) Cheers....
