Trying to understand the revised construction methodology, I surmise that the infrastructure (inner case) is titanium for rigidity, lightness and QC reproducibility.
Instead of thin coatings of protective / aesthetic material like PVD or DLC, the exterior case is made of composite thick cladding for shock absorption, aesthetics and scratch resistance.
This leads to a philosophical question:
Is it a failed execution of original concept (full composite) or a successful evolution of engineering solution (case-within-case)?
I liken it to the replaceable armour plates on a bullet-proof jacket or Chobham armour; they can be replaced or upgraded as necessary.
