unusual or rare rolex strap?
Hi guys,
Can anyone tell me any info on this strap?
It came with the watch from Mappin & Webb jewellers in 1979 in leeds,I have the original documents stating this.
Both the watch and strap are 14 k gold -all hallmarks are in place and correct denoting 585/14k.
So not plated,rolled or filled.
I had the strap altered to fit my wrist,by a goldsmith in Bristol who just happened to have the same watch and strap.
He thought the strap was some sort of aniversary for Rolex but was not sure.
There is no strap that I can find like this -this is where you guys come in!
Any info would be great.
Btw, the watch was given to me by my father as a birthday present!

Interesting strap but I do not thinkit was made by Rolex
I suspect made by M&W specifically for thatwatch as it has perfectly fitting end pieces A nice strap for that watch Enjoy Julian

However if M&W did ,they made more than one. Plus putting the Rolex coronet without Rolex's permission seems strange from such a company. 14k gold watches or jewellery in the UK is highly unusual. Julian you are correct the end pieces fit perfectly so an ...

Hi guys, Mappin and Webb are official Rolex dealers,or at least were,and certainly was in 1979. The Rolex paperwork has M&P stamped on it. Would an authorised dealer make changes without Rolex approval?.
strap is genuine
Mappin and Webb have confirmed strap is genuine(rolex) and the watch although first sold as new in 1979,was actually made in 1974. The strap is reasonably rare,and very rare in th UK,being 14k.
