1953 Rolex 6084 : An Unexpected Treasure
Sometimes a treasure comes unexpected. And I was probably also lucky that most people are so focused on hunting sports rolexes from 60s-70s, that this piece was unnoticed.
This is a reference 6084 Oyster Perpetual from 1953, and it measures 34mm.

What attracted me initially was the dial, that has a similar style index and hands with my 1803 Day-Date and I thought it would be nice to make it as a pair.

And obviously I didn't really expect much on this watch, until the day I've received it in hand. I was blown away with the condition , I believe case has been polished nicely , but it's still remarkable for a watch that's over 60 years old.
Also the dial is so well balanced and has turned to a nice cream color. The hands are also attractive that it's really long that it reaches the edge of the chapter ring and it's slightly curved at the point. The key thing probably is that this is a non-luminous dial with non-luminous hands, that the dial doesn't age as much as the luminous ones.

This part is also interesting, as when I tried to wind the watch, I just realized that it wasn't a screw down crown, and after talking to some experts about it, I learned that "Super Oyster Crown" were made in the early 50s as a solution to make a non screw down crown that's still quite waterproof, and it was found mostly on 6084 and 6085 reference.
And the caseback is a bubble back style case back, makes it even better.

The bracelet on the watch is a later bracelet, but with a clasp like that, I really can't complain

On the wrist it's just perfect ! It doesn't feel like a 34mm with the bracelet. And I have to say this has become one of my favorite watch to wear.

I hope you enjoy the photographs I've taken on the watch
Best,
Sam
