I have been in London to attend a Patek event and came across a watch that caught my eye from a brand that would not normally catch my eye. I must confess I have never been a great fan of Rolex partly because I have been partial to dress watches with leat...

I am afraid I am the black sheep of the family as none of of my family members like watches so I am financially safe to spoil only myself! This will probably be the only Rolex I shall ever own but such is its allure that I feel it can be worn on all occas...

but they are all too large on my wrist. The 37mm Yachtmaster is probably the closest thing to a good fit for me but I am not too keen on the oyster bracelet. And yes, I agree that the white gold bezel is a nice touch. Thank you Uncle Chico

I still can't believe it has happened. There was a better chance of me buying almost any other brand but Rolex! But in my mind I had a picture of the perfect Rolex. This was it!

I have had to sell my 3 month old Grand Seiko to help finance this purchase. This is the only snag of being retired otherwise known as unemployed where when one watch enters, another has to be sacrificed!

I’m retired but haven’t developed the discipline to say NO, so I totally avoid going to dealers! Of course if one must work RWS watches into the equation, then one must have a long-term view ... 😉 Cazalea

Although it is destined for all types of activities, I cannot imagine myself playing squash or swimming with it on! I guess I am just too careful with these precious possession or I just not as brave as others!

For instance, with this DJ I even play tennis in Italy (not soccer though, since I'm the goalkeeper! . It was one of the first watches I bought, in 2006, and I haven't serviced it once in 13 years yet! A real beast Cheers. ...  

I like the thought that the watch does not require a service after 13 years. I guess that is why Rolex can comfortably offer a five year guarantee on all their new watches. Thanks for the encouragement!

I am not sure if it is sporty at all but it is without doubt the most sporty watch I have!

I would wear with jeans, shorts, bermudas, a t shirt and so on... give it a try

I think this watch is so versatile that it can be worn in every scenario!

For me when buying a watch, how it fits on the wrist triumphs above all. So when I was told that the lovely Rolex Datejust on display was 36mm, my eyes lit up like a boy in a toy shop! What am I saying?! It was a toy shop!!!

but the exchange rate had no effect on me since I still do not have a Malaysian credit card, only a couple in pounds sterling! It is quite interesting the number of stainless steel Rolex available in the UK compared to Malaysia where not a single Rolex AD...

The white dial really matches the WG fluted bezel very nicely, so overall the face of the watch looks so uniform. Great buy and I agree this is one Rolex that could still remain a daily ‘go to’ wear. Wear it in good health for ever!

I felt the same about the dial too which convinced me this Rolex would be a keeper.

The perfect watch is what we all aspire to. I think this watch is going to be an old workhorse and a watch I will always be able to count on.

It is these 2 qualities where Rolex is in a league of its own.

That won't happen for awhile until Patek decide I am worthy of the Nautilus which hopefully will happen within the next 18 months. Thank you for your kind comments! On a separate note, will you be going to Singapore for you know what??!!

The Datejust 36 mm is a very basic but wonderful companion for your wrist. Classic Qyster design, lovely silver dial and the wg bezel are making it a great easy wearing piece. And the Jubilee bracelet is making it even more comfy and cool. I hope - no, I ...

I used to be a guy who would have never worn a dress watch on a strap. And look at me now! Many different Patek watches on strap (not all strictly dress watches) on my wrist.

Hard to do better for a daily wearer, and also great for when you want to keep your heavier artillery on reserve

because friends of mine for once are noticing my watch when I wear the datejust and try not to come too close for fear of damaging it whereas when I wear a Patek or my Lang & Heyne, no one really takes notice!!

Something much harder to do with cars!
