I Totally Sympathize with You!
I bought a Rolex GMT in steel from an Authorized Dealer in Los Angeles in November of 1986. I wore that watch EVERY DAY for almost exactly 10 years. I was working on a job in Philadelphia when my beloved GMT made a weird “snapping” noise and stopped running. It was devastating to me. Fortunately, I was able to hop the Amtrak from Philadelphia to NYC and I handed the watch to the good people at Rolex. The watch had served me so reliably and so well for a decade. Truth is, I had been taking the watch (and it’s excellent service) for granted. I didn’t fully realize that these are finely made mechanical, precision instruments. The worst part was being without my watch!

It could be something simple, like happened to my pal Moki and his Tudor: A screw fell out and wedged into the stem area, stopping the rotor and the ability to set the watch Notice the empty hole Screw and clip back in place, tighten, and soon all is well...
Id say 10 years are just enough to not be too angry.

My watchmaker always says: let me check them every six years at least and, if you dive with them, every two!
