Rolex

it is fascinating to read this....

.....but I would add a number of points.

First, in my mind, the Explorer is perhaps one of the most anonymous Rolex in the range. The classic icon is the Submariner. You can spot a Submariner from 100yds. The Explorer is a watch that, in my view, rally goes under the radar.

Second, you say that it is very shiny. How about putting it on a leather strap or a Nato strap? That would dull-it-down somewhat. Would also make it even more anonymous.

Third, you say that in its space, the Explorer can't be beaten. I tend to agree with that. The question you might ask is whether you are looking for a watch in another space?

Modern Rolex can have certain societal connotations. I think that is true. If you wish to get away from that, then liek Nicolas suggests, maybe take a look at the vintage arena. It is a different beast altogether. I would aliken it to this.....if you drive a brand new turbo Posrche, other drivers don't tend to like you. If you drive an air-cooled 993, they like you.
