New 2014 Oyster Perpetual

Hello all,

Long-time lurker here, and sometime poster on JLC forum. There's something I have to run past you. I've always rather liked the Milgauss but I can't run to a vintage one, and the modern one wears too big for me. When I saw the brand new 36mm Oyster Perpetual with the dark grey dial this year, I really liked it for some reason. And I just realised why that might be. Have Rolex issued a rather clever and subtle tribute to the Milgauss? The 36mm brushed case and double batons at 3, 6, and 9 are reminiscent of those found on the ref 1019 perhaps, and the small double digits all the way around the very edge of the dial are of course also seen on the modern day Milgauss LV.

So what say you, Purists? New Oyster Perpetual=a sort of Millgauss homage, or is it sacrilege to even suggest so / am I seeing too much?

All best, J.
