... It is so nice and nostalgic to view those old ads.
I feel they are referring to both Pan American and Swissair with those words about two famous Airways Companies.
It is suggested by the little drawing of a Douglas DC 6 or 7 airplane with the Swiss cross on its tail.
We have always read about the connection of Rolex/Pan Am giving birth to the GMT, but never about Swissair, so this add is very interesting and a Great finding!

Differently said, if we want to understand why we love the GMT Master so much, we have to try to find what's behind this watch. Do the test: Don't you intuitively feel there is something really, deeply special and highly attractive which happens each time...

For the inspiring post. Seeing all those PANAM ads brought me back in time - something which mostly only my old cars do. I remember seeing Antiquorum auctioning all those accessories with the GMT watch and wondered why someone would want it. Know I better...

and old watches. We have perhaps become too slick in our age. We have also become illiterate. There used to be stories and lots of text to read in ads. Now it is just a single word or brand.

It was that first advertisement showing the pilot's arm with an18k GMT that did it for me. Somehow Rolex have managed to produce a tool watch with elegance and enormous wrist presence at the same time. Super!

Thanks for this awesome, uplifting post! The GMT and the Daytona are my favorite Rolex watches. Although I have a Sub no date, I still prefer the GMT and Daytona over the Sub..just my humble opinion and in no way meant to offend the Sub lovers!
